Snowy Canadian Flashbacks to the Tub at Le Chamois

What is life without indulgence from time to time.

Indulgence can come in many different forms ~ a glass of exquisite wine, a rather scrumptious piece of chocolate, or simply stealing a quiet moment in the sunshine.  For me, one of my favourite indulgences is a good soak.  I love relaxing in hot water and wallowing all my worries away.

Wallowing away my worries.

It is for this reason and the a bit of Whistler inspiration that encouraged me to indulge in the column ‘The World’s Best Soaks‘.

Tub Bliss at Le Chamois Whistler

The inspiration came in the form of the most incredible tub, and after a rather bruised tail bone from my first snowboarding lesson, I have got to say it was sent from the heavens.  The tub in question was this one at Le Chamois in Whistler, BC, Canada.  Pure blissful indulgence, that I’ve been having lovely flashbacks to all week, as the beautiful snow has been falling on Canada.

Hoping if I win the Whistler Sabbatical, that I get this tub in a cat friendly room.

For another indulgent Whistler, BC soak, check out Scandinave Spa. Pure bliss!

So curious, where’s your best soak been, whether in a tub, at a spa, or in some hot springs?

Emme xoxo

Would You Do It To Live the Whistler Dream?

Seriously excited to share that Whistler is offering the ultimate in dreams for travel fanatics ~ a one-month expenses paid Whistler Sabbatical. We are talking airfare, accommodation, lift passes, ski/ snowboard equipment for 2, plus a series of extraordinary experiences.  Sounds to good to be true, right?  Well, it gets even better.  To offset the cost of taking a month off of work, Whistler is also throwing in a salary for the winner.

So how does one win?

  1. Visit www.whistler.com/wouldyoudoit, click on ‘The Contest’ & enter. This is one entry in the contest.
  2. Each week you will be emailed a weekly video and question.  Sign in on the site, watch that week’s ‘Explore Your Options’ video and answer the question. You will recieve an additional entry for each week during the Contest Period that you do this, giving you up to an additional 18 possible entries.
  3. You have now until January 31, 2012 to get your entries in.
It’s as simple as that!

So the weekly questions, must be tough, right?  Nope.

Here is the first week’s video vignette:

… and the question:

”Would you dance in your ski boots until midnight?”

  • A) I’ll do it.
  • B) Been there, done that.
  • C) I’ll need a little more time with that (and likely some good tequila).
And there are weekly prizes too that you can enter to win on facebook at www.facebook.com/GoWhistler.  This week’s winner will receive a $600 (CDN) Whistler Blackcomb gift card towards new ski boots and a tab at the Garibaldi Lift Co. Bar & Grill.

So of course with any contest, there are certain stipulations.  You can read them all here, but the main ones are:

  • You must be a resident in North America, the United Kingdom or Australia; and
  • The grand prize winner must redeem their Whistler Sabbatical between March 1 – April 30, 2012.
Good luck! (You’ll need it, as I plan on getting my 19 entries in.)

Kisses,

Emme xoxo

PS I wonder, if when I win, if they’ll give me my Le Chamois tub back for the month?

World Best Soaks: Inspired by Le Chamois Whistler and Scandinave Spa Whistler

It’s been an interesting year. One that has been presenting a lot of change, for the better I think.  You see both Brie and I got hit up in the Rat Race this Winter / Spring to a very unhealthy extent.  I don’t joke when I say that I think we were both heading to a nervous breakdown or a heart attack.

I think it was the idea of Roamancing that kept us hanging on by a thread to our sanity.  That idea of taking time for ourselves for an escape for a day or a full fledged holiday.  We have Whistler Tourism, Le Chamois Whistler, the Rocky Mountaineer and Scandinave Spa Whistler to thank for showing us the importance of slowing down for our sanity, creativity and our health.

Really Le Chamois was the precursor with a weekend away in Whistler for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival with Richard Yearwood.  No, not that sort of weekend.  Although I love Richard dearly and find him to be none too hard on the eyes, we are friends and colleagues, not lovers. Being the Easter Holiday and the last weekend that Whistler Mountain was open for skiing, not a room was to be had, until Le Chamois came to our rescue and provided a little inspiration for me for this column.  On a weekend that Richard and I were running all over the place, experiencing and covering this and that, Le Chamois provided us with a much needed piece of tranquility and bliss.  The piece de resistance being the tub!  Which I must say was sent from the heavens after I hobbled back to Le Chamois from my first ever snowboarding lesson (with the heavenly Sean Matthews).

For Brie the same tranquil escape and reminder of how desperately we both needed to slow down came a few weeks later, as the Rocky Mountaineer sent us on a day’s retreat to Whistler and the opportunity to visit the cell phone and speaking free oasis of the Scandinave Spa.

These escapes were the wake up calls we needed to take a look at our lives, remind ourselves of the importance of taking time to smell the lavender, enjoy time with friends and family, and relish in the little adventures in life, as at the end of the day it is those moments that are really important.

To this end, we plan to continually remind ourselves of this with this column honouring the World’s Best Soaks – whether in the form of a tub, a spa, or a natural hot spring.  To all of you, we raise a glass in thanks.

Kisses,

Emme xoxo
