Celebrating #NaturallySaltSpring by Giving Away a Two-Night Stay at Cusheon Lake Resort on Salt Spring Island

Read on to find out how to win a two-night stay at Cusheon Lake Resort on Salt Spring Island this February 2018!

Lucy Duck, all tucked in for a good night’s sleep at Cusheon Lake Resort.

For those of you that travel for work (and pleasure), you will know that there is nothing more comforting and restorative than knowing that you have a warm, inviting, comfortable and safe place to stay at the end of the day.

No truer words were ever spoken than this need when we were filming on Salt Spring Island. The Island is beautiful and filled with the warmth of the people we were meeting, but filming is exhausting – especially when much of it was outdoors in the snow, and it was Kelly Conlin (our Director, Cinematographer and Editor)’s and my first time meeting and figuring out how we both work.

Thanks to Cusheon Lake Resort and our wonderful hosts, Andie and Glen Tremblay, we had that place. A wonderful cabin at the edge of Cusheon Lake that provided a home away from home each night.  Wonderfully comfortable beds awaited our weary heads, along with a full kitchen, and a roaring fire, beside which Kelly would go through the dailies each night.  And then each morning, we would wake to the beautiful snow covered stillness of Cusheon Lake, with the morning light dancing it’s way through the mist.   On the first morning, I pondered whether to wake Kelly before my morning coffee run (I hadn’t been quite so organized as to bring my own coffee to make – although I should have been), until I realized that Kelly had been up filming for ages to capture the morning beauty over the lake just right.  This ended up being Kelly every morning, as the beauty of the lake never ceased to sing to us, especially in the morning light.

It is in part thanks to the beauty of Cusheon Lake and the home away from home that Andie and Glen provided for us there, that our first season of Naturally Ours, Naturally Salt Spring turned out so well. So well in fact that we just found that Naturally Ours (the full length documentary on Salt Spring’s parks and people) and Naturally Salt Spring, the web series, are Official Selections of the Vancouver Web Fest and Nominees for Best Pilot (under 30-minutes), Best Cinematography, Best Documentary and Best of BC! To say we are delighted is an understatement.

My daughter attended training on Salt Spring Island and told me how beautiful it was. She lives in Vancouver and I’m in Montana. Winning would give me the opportunity to visit and experience it myself as well as give us a chance for a long awaited mother/daughter weekend!

Congratulations on being a focus of such an exquisitely produced feature about Salt Spring Island. Lovely to see such a pure way of real life and living. I was thrilled to see body, mind, spirit and care for the land and lifestyle so well preserved and depicted in this film; we need that education out there. I too am a proud Canadian.

I would be so pleased to embrace and enjoy the tranquility of nature at your lovely place. The person I would invite needs this rest. ;o) Of course I’d love to win. I live on Vancouver Island . I am not a user of social media.

I was charmed by my first visit to Salt Spring over 30 years ago, with apple trees in blossom, and lambs in the fields. I’ve since visited many times in the summer to swim in the fabulous fresh water lakes and walk and relax in nature. I’m hoping to one day retire to Salt Spring, and experience each and every season and nuance of this special place.

Big congratulations on being accepted as an Official Selection at the Vancouver Webfest, and the FOUR nominations! That’s fantastic! Although I live in Florida, which normally is already a destination for vacations, it would be lovely to have a chance to stay with you in such a beautiful region and cabin. And if I am chosen but for some reason can’t fly up, I’d donate the opportunity to friends who live in Vancouver and would really appreciate the good news, getting to have a special experience like this one right now. CHEERS from Jacksonville and the East Coast! 🙂

I lived on Salt Spring Island for a year in 2014 and this place definitely holds a magic that is hard to describe. Everytime I am there something happens that changes the course of my life. The energies of The Rock are of somewhat an enchanted nature. I always wanted to jump and swim in Cusheon Lake, but there is only a very small public peer. So the idea of 2 days there, being able to breathe and meditate and recharge…it would be incredible :-)!
