The Apple: A Lesson in Finding Your Undiscovered Potential

The Johnny Appleseed tune is stuck in my head as I begin to write this! So too, are all the well known sayings like, ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ (which leads to things like … a plank a day keeps the belly away!) But what if we were to really take a look at the apple as a lesson in finding your undiscovered potential; a symbolism for what’s buried deep within you that no one has even seen yet.

An apple has the potential for an entire orchard within it! Buried deep inside are a few seeds that are the most undesirable part to us, but if planted and tended to, have the potential to grow into something grand.

Notice that the seeds are rooted deep within the apple. Not simply in the outer appearance, or even the sweet flesh. Nothing will come of the apple’s potential if completely left to sit in a box. Peeling back, and working towards the core will reveal and unleash the inner power! There are times though, when a bit of bruising and rotting takes place. This too, reaches the core eventually and can reveal the potential for immense growth within each tiny seed.

Wherever you find yourself in life, know that there is an incredible gift within you. Put in the work to discover it, and understand that one tiny little action you take has the potential to continue sprouting.
