We finally did it! We bought our dream van ... and are embracing EV campervan life! Here is the story of the 3 Es - Erica, Ella in all her tortitude and Eddie the EV - in embarking on campervan life! For 15 years, my cat and I have road tripped the van life across Canada — first in a Subaru Impreza, driving thousands of kilometres while caregiving for my mom. Now we're starting a new chapter: converting a BrightDrop electric van into our next home on wheels. I went live on Tuesday, reflecting on GM's announcement to stop production on BrightDrop electric vans, which are by far THE COOLEST EV CARGO VAN on the market in North America at present. The technology is quite incredible, resulting in those who discover the vans to further develop them into incredible green campervan, medical vehicles, classrooms, offices, food trucks, and more; in addition to their sales as delivery vans. So why is General Motors struggling to sell them in the US (there is a backlog of orders in Canada)? Well, aside from Trump axing the electric vehicle rebate in the US, GM has also failed to market and share the story of this electric vehicle, despite BrightDrop owners excitedly sharing how they are innovating with this electric van. Quite frankly, what GM has in BrightDrop is an out-of-the-box van that needs out-of-the-box marketing and storytelling. GM has failed to embrace minimal marketing on the vehicle, let alone effectively sharing its story. This is sad as not only has this let the people of Ingersoll down (where the BrightDrop plant is), but it is abandoning amazing technology, filled with hope for a greener future, that we all desperately need at present.
