Read on to find out how to win a two-night stay at Cusheon Lake Resort on Salt Spring Island this February 2018!
For those of you that travel for work (and pleasure), you will know that there is nothing more comforting and restorative than knowing that you have a warm, inviting, comfortable and safe place to stay at the end of the day.
No truer words were ever spoken than this need when we were filming on Salt Spring Island. The Island is beautiful and filled with the warmth of the people we were meeting, but filming is exhausting – especially when much of it was outdoors in the snow, and it was Kelly Conlin (our Director, Cinematographer and Editor)’s and my first time meeting and figuring out how we both work.
Thanks to Cusheon Lake Resort and our wonderful hosts, Andie and Glen Tremblay, we had that place. A wonderful cabin at the edge of Cusheon Lake that provided a home away from home each night. Wonderfully comfortable beds awaited our weary heads, along with a full kitchen, and a roaring fire, beside which Kelly would go through the dailies each night. And then each morning, we would wake to the beautiful snow covered stillness of Cusheon Lake, with the morning light dancing it’s way through the mist. On the first morning, I pondered whether to wake Kelly before my morning coffee run (I hadn’t been quite so organized as to bring my own coffee to make – although I should have been), until I realized that Kelly had been up filming for ages to capture the morning beauty over the lake just right. This ended up being Kelly every morning, as the beauty of the lake never ceased to sing to us, especially in the morning light.
It is in part thanks to the beauty of Cusheon Lake and the home away from home that Andie and Glen provided for us there, that our first season of Naturally Ours, Naturally Salt Spring turned out so well. So well in fact that we just found that Naturally Ours (the full length documentary on Salt Spring’s parks and people) and Naturally Salt Spring, the web series, are Official Selections of the Vancouver Web Fest and Nominees for Best Pilot (under 30-minutes), Best Cinematography, Best Documentary and Best of BC! To say we are delighted is an understatement.

To celebrate, Andie and Glen have kindly offered a two-night stay in one of their 1-bedroom cabins at Cusheon Lake Resort on Salt Spring Island for any two-nights in February (except on the BC Family Day Weekend – February 10 -12, 2018).

I love salt spring island and haven’t been for quite a while. Would love to win.
My daughter attended training on Salt Spring Island and told me how beautiful it was. She lives in Vancouver and I’m in Montana. Winning would give me the opportunity to visit and experience it myself as well as give us a chance for a long awaited mother/daughter weekend!
We have heard a lot of good things about Salt Spring Island in the past but didn’t get a chance to go visit. Would love to visit salt spring island some time.
Absolutely stunningly beautiful ..what a place to spend a few days recharging
Lovely to see Salt Spring featured in the winter when it is quieter and the pace is slower. The photography is stunning.
Congratulations on being a focus of such an exquisitely produced feature about Salt Spring Island. Lovely to see such a pure way of real life and living. I was thrilled to see body, mind, spirit and care for the land and lifestyle so well preserved and depicted in this film; we need that education out there. I too am a proud Canadian.
I would be so pleased to embrace and enjoy the tranquility of nature at your lovely place. The person I would invite needs this rest. ;o) Of course I’d love to win. I live on Vancouver Island . I am not a user of social media.
I know everyone is saying this, but I REALLY have not been to Saltspring Island in many years. Way too long!
Regards,
Stuck On Mainland
I was charmed by my first visit to Salt Spring over 30 years ago, with apple trees in blossom, and lambs in the fields. I’ve since visited many times in the summer to swim in the fabulous fresh water lakes and walk and relax in nature. I’m hoping to one day retire to Salt Spring, and experience each and every season and nuance of this special place.
I have loved visiting Salt Spring Island in the past if even for a day. The nature and friendly people leave your mind in peace. I have never been to Cusheon Lake and would love to visit.
What an amazing opportunity! Would love to through my name in the boot for the draw. Saltspring is such a special place.
We spent an amazing 4 nights at Cusheon Lale resort in the fall. What an amazing, welcoming, friendly, perfect place. We have been dreaming about going back ever since we came back from there.
Can’t wait to watch this project in full! Have wonderful memories of Salt Spring and would love to return.
Big congratulations on being accepted as an Official Selection at the Vancouver Webfest, and the FOUR nominations! That’s fantastic! Although I live in Florida, which normally is already a destination for vacations, it would be lovely to have a chance to stay with you in such a beautiful region and cabin. And if I am chosen but for some reason can’t fly up, I’d donate the opportunity to friends who live in Vancouver and would really appreciate the good news, getting to have a special experience like this one right now. CHEERS from Jacksonville and the East Coast! 🙂
My sister is in Vancouver, we have never been & I would love to visit & spend a couple of days with her at Salt Spring Lake. It looks so beautiful & peaceful.
Nominating my very good friend Pallavi Suri to win this and haveva relaxing getaway with her husband. I am a big fan of Salt Spring Island and its community and would love for her to experience it
Erica, you and your team have brought out the beauty and humanity of Salt Spring Island with your Naturally Ours series. You remind us of the glorious nature in our own backyards or just a ferry away! The Cusheon Lake Resort looks like the best place to relax, unwind, and enjoy a romantic getaway. After all it is the month of Love! I would love to surprise my special guy with this great gift to reconnect and enjoy!

I just retired from a busy working life, we have been home stay parents to foreign students for the past 5 years. It would be wonderful for my husband and I to have a relaxing time in your wonderful resort for just the two of us …. thank you for the opportunity… we love Salt Spring ?
The video is a wonderful reminder to all the importance of nature, the very thing that sustains us. Cusheon lake and salt Spring Island seem like a great place to unplug and remember.
I have been to the island for day trips, but would love the chance to stay on your beautiful island overnight at this great sounding resort!
LOOKS AMAZING. I have never been to Salt Spring so would love to experience it for the first time
I went to Salt Spring Island as a child. I really loved it there. It was a children’s camp. It was so peaceful and beautiful, I wanted to stay there forever. I would love to go back and see how it looks today!
I’ve been meaning to visit Saltspring for such a long time! I love the island vibe – relaxed afternoons exploring quirky small businesses and day-long adventures into untouched nature are the best. Nice to have a getaway so close to home!
It was neat learning about the Japanese artist who lives on Salt Spring with his family: all dem owls tho!
I like the idea of trying blubber and share your belief in the healing power of forest. I also like your truly-Canadian costume, especially the hat and red boots!! Quirky and FUN!
My birthday is on the 18th what a treat this would be, love Saltspring and havent been for some time
Love Salt Spring Island and would really enjoy a weekend away. The ocean is my happy place, waves are soothing to my soul.
Hi Kathy,
I have some good news for you. We didn’t hear back from the person whose name we initially drew in this prize giveaway, so we drew a new name, and that name was yours! Congratulations!
I will send you an email shortly.
Erica
Saltspring Island is the island getaway that us Vancouver Island people love. It’s like home busy cozier xo

Erica
I have always loved Salt Spring and have travelled there for a number of year but the last two summers our daughter has worked on Salt Spring and so we have and the greatest opportunity to do a lot of exploring and every time we go I realize there is so much more to see and do. So would love another get away.
I’ve never been to Saltspring, even though I’ve lived in Victoria all my life. This would be a great reason to stay!
My partner and I love Salt Spring Island we could use a little Salt Spring Island magic in a cabin to relax and rejuvenate. A great prize ???
From Nanaimo, but sadly have never been to Salt Spring. Have wanted to go for a long time! Need to get in some time with nature! Looks beautiful! Great prize ?
Our first visit to Saltsprong was on our honeymoon in many years ago. It would be great to go back on again.

I’ve only been to Salt Spring once, and I’d love to go back to explore it more! I’m hoping it has more snow than in Vancouver… fingers crossed!
‘Really enjoyed Episode 4 (Healing Naturally) … The magnificence of those huge trees was very comforting!
We have stayed at Cusheon Lk Resort 30+ yrs ago when we first got married. We brought my parents here when they were in town visiting. Beautiful spot. I enjoyed swimming and canoeing around the late (summer!).
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely getaway in 2016 to Salt Spring and this year in April marks our 5th wedding anniversary! What a way to celebrate?!!!!
We are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this year and we have never been there or even heard about it. Sounds so amazing.
A hidden gem it sounds like.
We love to visit Salt Spring Island but have never had the opportunity to stay overnight.
I would love to visit this island. It looks amazing.
This would be a wonderful getaway…a peaceful couple days to relax and recharge.
I’d love to win because it’s been way too long since I visited salt spring!
I lived on Salt Spring Island for a year in 2014 and this place definitely holds a magic that is hard to describe. Everytime I am there something happens that changes the course of my life. The energies of The Rock are of somewhat an enchanted nature. I always wanted to jump and swim in Cusheon Lake, but there is only a very small public peer. So the idea of 2 days there, being able to breathe and meditate and recharge…it would be incredible :-)!
I grew up on Salt Spring and when I visit now, I usually camp so it would be so great to be able to stay somewhere warm and cozy and beautiful.
I have only been to the Salt Spring once about 10 years ago. I only have beautiful memories with my family. It would be nice to revisit!
Amazing food, beautiful scenery, and an escape to the wilderness…. What better way to pause and reflect, love and reconnect?
I’ve never been to Salt Spring. The last time I tried to go, I unfortunately had a huge medical scare. Would love to finally visit! ?
Can’t wait to watch this series! I would love to check out Cusheon Lake the next timeIm on #Salt Spring!
My mom and her family have lived on Salts spring for years and years! It’s my favourite place on earth and cannot recommend it enough.
Congrats you two! Saw the post on GG and had to check it out 🙂 So many people have told me about Salt Springs Island – I’m new to Vancouver – so I would love to visit ! Does it also help that I ate mussels from the island and think they taste absolutely amazing?! I’m gonna bring my housemate who would love to go camping there with me 🙂 What a lovely campaign too 😉
My partner grew up on Salt Spring but we haven’t had the chance to explore it just us two. It would be wonderful to give her the opportunity to see it from a different perspective.
I love salt spring haven’t been since I was a teen. My sister and I had the best times. I’d love to go back and explore.
