UCLA Football

September 19, 2015 By Lori Yearwood 6 Comments

Back in the summer my family volunteered for the Special Olympics World Games. Many of you may have read the post about my experiences. Just when I thought we had taken all we could from the experience, a great gift came in our email! All of the volunteers were sent free tickets to attend a UCLA Football game! All the tickets were for the same game out at the Rose Bowl Stadium where the UCLA Bruins would be playing the Virginia Cavaliers.

Setting up for the next play. Look at the crowd all in blue to support the Bruins! The little group in orange is from Virginia

These weren’t just any tickets… we were right down by the field! Before the game started they took a special moment for all the volunteers to stand up and be recognized. That special moment lead into a very exciting game where we were up close and personal for quite a few touchdowns! I managed to capture one of them on film and think through that you can feel the energy in the stadium. Watching a sporting event live is nothing like watching it on TV. I hope you are able to cheer loudly for your favourite team sometime soon!

I’m a UCLA alumna and am actually going to the game today, as I’m home from Australia at the moment! I don’t love the sport itself, but the atmosphere of games is super fun, and I’m excited I’ll get to go to one this season!

That’s amazing! Hope you had fun at the game. I’m with you…not a huge fan of sports in general and don’t really watch any on TV, but I’ll jump at the chance to go see a live sporting event any day…that always makes me an instant fan!

Sports are very important in era of technology to stay fit and healthy. Cell phones and social media is taking away from the sports.

I agree. Even when watching a sporting event, some people are so caught up in trying to capture an amazing moment on video that they watch most of the event through the screen of their phone, rather than just enjoying the experience.

The NFL is great, but College football has a really fun energy to it. I enjoy them both!
