Interactive Art at Wonderspaces and the Lavatory Museum in Phoenix, Arizona

March 1, 2019 By Lori Yearwood 1 Comment

The essence of art in galleries has started to change, to adapt to a more modern crowd. I recently visited two places in Arizona that have done away with the "No photos of the art!", and the "Don't touch the art!" gallery rules. I have to say, it is such a joy to explore interactive art and be playful! Both Wonderspaces, within the Scottsdale Fashion Square, and the Lavatory … [Read more...]

Springtime Adventures in Orillia – Treetop Trekking to Reptiles and Amphibians

February 16, 2019 By Mary McDonald 2 Comments

It’s getting close to that time again — when the trilliums start springing out alongside the path in the woods near our apartment, when the nights (and days) can be awfully cold, and the siren call of camping (glamping, actually) begins to sound. It will soon be time for our Mom and Daughter glamping trip, for the love of spring. We’ve begun an annual tradition, my oldest … [Read more...]

Salt River Tubing

Tubing down the Salt River is a pretty popular thing to do out in Phoenix, Arizona. People flock to the river, rent inner tubes, ride a bus up to the top and then float for hours with two different exit points. There are both calm relaxing parts to chill and eat the snacks floating beside you, (yes, your cooler can have its own tube!), and crazy current rapids. From everything … [Read more...]

The Broad Museum Los Angeles ~ A Day With Art

July 12, 2017 By Brie Mason Leave a Comment

"Mom, we'd really like to go to The Broad Art Museum ... can you get us tickets?" Ummm ... consider me speechless at that moment, because my kids have only stepped foot in art museums when they have been dragged there. How they even knew about this place was beyond me, but then I got to the bottom of their inspiration ~ Instagram! They had seen several cool photos of postings … [Read more...]

Graduating from Sand Castles to Sand Art

May 11, 2017 By Lori Yearwood 2 Comments

There are a few standard activities that are a must for beach days: sunbathing, reading magazines, eating snacks, splashing in the waves, and building sand castles. As my kids grew, the sand castle building faded away... that is, until we saw some mind blowing sand art one day. Inspiration is a wonderful thing, and so is the challenge of trying to master something new. I … [Read more...]
